Singer Thanh Lam named as judge for ASEAN+3 Song Contest

Vietnamese singer Thanh Lam and musician Trong Dai will participate as judges during the ASEAN+3 Song Contest alongside representatives from the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia.

During a recent press briefing held in Hanoi, singer Thanh Lam expressed her view that music is like a common language, whilst outlining her hope that creativity will shine through during the regional song contest.

The national broadcaster Voice of Vietnam (VOV) are to host both the semi-final and final rounds of the ASEAN+3 Song Contest which is scheduled take place in Ha Long city in the northern province of Quang Ninh from July 26-29.

The judging panel is to be made up of five members with Vietnam having two representatives.

The regional song contest is open to entries from professional pop singers aged between 18 and 35 from 10 Southeast Asian nations.

The event will serve as a platform for young singers to showcase their skills and nurture their talent.

Currently, judges have selected the best 22 contestants from ASEAN member states to progress to the semi-finals and finals.

The final night of the competition is due to be held in Ha Long city at 8pm on July 28. Aside from the singers coming from ASEAN countries, performers from China, the Republic of Korea, and Japan will also take part in the event.

The grand final of the contest will be broadcast live on VOV’s radio channels along with being shown on television channels Vietnam Journey, VTC, VOV3, and VOV5.

The competition winner will receive a cash prize totaling US$3,000. The recipients of the two second-place prizes will be awarded US$1,500 each.

The three prizes given to those in third place will be given US$1,000 each. Finally, those receiving the five consolation prizes will each receive US$500.
